What a setting spray actually does
A setting spray does two things. It melts the layers of makeup together so powder never looks dry or dusty, and it adds hold so the makeup stays where you put it. In hot, humid or long situations it is the difference between makeup that lasts and makeup that slides.
Waterproof, long-wear sprays
The PHOERA 24HR Waterproof Setting Spray is built for maximum hold: up to 24 hours, waterproof and sweat-resistant, with a soft-matte, shine-controlling finish. This is what I use for weddings, matric dances, events and shoots in heat.
Matte finish, hydrating sprays
The PHOERA Matte Finish Setting Spray is lighter. It sets with a natural matte finish while adding hydration from hyaluronic acid and panthenol. It is my choice for everyday wear, and it doubles as a primer and a midday refresher.
Which one should you choose?
Choose waterproof if you have oily skin, a long event, heat, dancing or tears ahead. Choose matte finish if you want comfort, everyday wear and a quick refresh during the day. Many people keep both: one for big days, one for every day.
How to apply setting spray properly
Finish your makeup, including powder. Shake the bottle, hold it 20 to 30cm away, close your eyes and mist in an X shape and then a T shape. Let it dry fully without touching your face. For extra hold, mist once before powder and once after.
Pair it with powder
Setting spray works best with targeted powder. Use loose setting powder on the T-zone and under the eyes, then spray. See all my setting products.
